6 Spring 2026 Fashion Trends + How to Wear Them
A wardrobe stylist's guide to Spring 2026 trends! From elevated layering and vintage-inspired brooches to the return of the breezy A-line skirt, this season is all about wearable styles that can work for any age or body type.
Today’s article comes to us from Megan LaRussa Chenoweth, a Southern fashion stylist and style coach specializing in helping women look and feel their best.

The phrase fashion trends can make my clients instantly tune out of a wardrobe conversation. Trends often appear to be for a certain age, a specific body type, or folks with a particularly bold sense of style. But I love showing my clients that trends can actually work for everyone. By incorporating an on-trend color, accessory, or silhouette, you can easily take what’s already in your closet into a new season without investing in an entire new wardrobe.
Here’s what’s trending for Spring 2026, and how to make it work for you.
Classic Layering
Lovers of classic styles are rejoicing at the sight of more and more traditional-with-a-twist looks gracing the runways and stores. Trench coats, blazers, bombers, cardigans, and silk scarves are chic layering pieces that suit our Southern spring weather nicely.
Look for blazers that are tailored with a strong shoulder for a modern look. If you plan to wear the blazer with slim-leg pants, opt for a more relaxed shape that hits below the hip. When pairing a blazer with a wider-leg pant, choose a more cropped or tailored silhouette.
Silk scarves are one of my favorite accessories! They are easy to wear both casually and professionally with jeans, dresses, and pants. For some inspo on tying your silk scarves, check out this video I made on the topic!

Given that these layering pieces are more classic in nature, they are worth investing in as they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Brooch Collection
The brooch is another classic piece that’s been infused with new life this year. I personally have loved collecting brooches over the years, as they feel like little works of art. If you have any brooches in your jewelry box that perhaps you inherited from your mother or grandmother, it’s time to pull them out!
The key to wearing these unique accessories is to style them in a way that feels fresh and modern. Select a trio to pin to your denim jacket, and one large, fabulous brooch to attach to the waistband of your dress. A brooch or two can also look chic on the collar or lapel of your blazer.

Living Color
Color is nothing new for spring, but designers really showed out with their bold pops and unique pairings. If you prefer a single palette, try a dress in bold red, cobalt blue, or buttery yellow. If you adore a bold coupling, try pairing bubblegum pink and chestnut, sage green and butter yellow, or red and ballet pink to revive colorful pieces already living in your closet.

And don’t forget one of the hottest color trends of the season: dusty blue. This gorgeous hue makes a subtle, but strong statement. Add a dress, a spring leather jacket, or an everyday handbag in this of-the-moment shade to your closet. Considered a neutral, this color will be the workhorse of your spring wardrobe.

Woven Shoes
We’ve seen woven shoes for a season or two now, but not quite like this. This year’s crop of cute woven footwear includes flirty kitten heels and classic ballet flats. Sporty sneakers with woven details are even entering the chat.
I am excited to add this style to my clients’ spring wardrobes as it is the perfect transition shoe that can be worn well into summer, too. Opt for a light, neutral woven flat you can throw on with anything from dresses to shorts to light-wash jeans this season.

Skirts Galore
There’s nothing better than a breezy skirt on a hot day in the South. Simple A-line and pencil styles are trending in a variety of lengths. Above the knee, right below the knee, and midi look freshest. Skip any skirts with tiers and focus instead on styles with clean lines in a neutral shade, or with just a touch of texture or print.
The most current way to style a skirt is with a tucked-in button-down, a tucked-in classic tee (or a shorter tee worn untucked), or, for cooler days, a buttoned-up cardigan.
Pair your woven flat or sleek sneaker with a skirt for a chic, polished everyday look!
Sleeker Sneaker
Stylish sneakers are here to stay! The sneaker silhouette is getting even sleeker this season (some appear to be ballet-slipper inspired), and it’s best paired with warm-weather dresses, skirts, and straight or wide-leg jeans. Try adding a slim sneaker in a neutral hue to your collection this season.
SB Tip: Both straight and wide leg jean styles are still reigning supreme. They look fantastic for spring in white, cream, and lighter washes.
