The Coolest Home Addition I’ve Seen Belongs to Clint & Holly Smith

Posted by on Jul 30, 2009 in Home & Decor

I went to a party at Clint and Holly Smith’s house. They are just too cool.  You know the type.  The type of people who don’t just think “gee, that would be fun” but actually DO it?  So, they hired a Taco truck, added some music and had a party.  The real hit, though, was their new addition.  I couldn’t get over it.  I LOVE it.  I think you will too.  So, here are the details:

The finished results. Don't you love it?

Contractor: Dream Inc. Joe and Sunday Kovalick. [email protected].  Joe was the contractor, so he hooked the Smiths up with the stone mason, painters, floor installers, etc. Sunday helped them with choosing tile, flooring, bath fixtures, etc.

Residential Designer: Ryan Thewes, the residential designer who transformed the existing space and created the new spaces. www.ryanthewes.com

Decorator / Designer: Tory Fitzgibbon of Fitz Ritter Interiors (her email:f[email protected] ) helped design the patio, fire pit, and the finishing touches including the guestroom curtains and bedding, screened porch furniture (from Summer Classics), the magnetic wall and the layout of their existing furniture in the playroom.  Her fee is now per $750 per room and she passes all received discounts onto her clients.

The Smith’s purchased their cork flooring from Expo (now closed).  Meyers Carpet has a selection as well.  The garage doors were ordered through Nashville-based Crawford Door Sales.

The urban Fire Pit. A fire pit, a planter, a party cooler all in one!

“We are truly enjoying our new space. We practically live on the screened porch, and it is wonderful for the kids to have a space for Wii tournaments, board games and homework (not to mention having a confined space for all of those things).

We’ve had a few parties and the new space is working well for entertaining. We pull the garage doors up, creating plenty of combined indoor and outdoor space that flows well. We also like having the fire pit function as a cooler for such occasions.

The garage doors are the signature element, but the pièce de résistance may be the Sonos sound system (www.sonos.com). It hooks onto our wireless network and allows us to create different “zones” in different areas of the house and manage everything with a remote control.  We like to create our own music channels on Pandora and aren’t afraid to include the occasional Atlanta Rhythm Section or Steely Dan tune.” – Holly Smith

  2. We love Tori Fitzgibbons!!! One of our favorite designers, so talented! Holly Smith purchased a beautiful patina steel console from us (nest interiors) for the home as well. Console is by Run-Run Studio in NYC.

The remodel is gorgeous, by the way. The doors, stone patio and fire pit are just fantastic. So glad you posted this!

How fun to see such a cool addition on your house! Holly, I’ve always know how cool Clint was and knew you would be too if he pick you and you appreciated him. Now you have tangible proof of your coolness.

  4. The renovation is amazing. I hear the guy in the red shirt sitting on the knee wall is SUPER awesome.
