Liza and I are thrilled to announce StyleBlueprint’s Gift and Accessory Show this November 3rd & 4th.  The idea of giving our readers a fun way to get some shopping done before the holidays has been percolating in the StyleBlueprint laboratory for some time.  Then when Hal and Rachel Pickel of Two Moon Gallery on 12th Avenue South stepped up and said, “We’ll host it here”– we knew we were on to a great idea.

Our goal was to assemble a group of artists with great creations at equally great price points.  Throw in a fabulous charity, Mocha Club, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in African nations, and this promises to be one incredible event.  Liza and I love the rhythm of 12 South with its urban streetscape and kitschy shops.  Even better for our readers, some of the merchants have agreed to provide discounts and swag for the night.

Drum roll, please!  Here are the artists who have agreed to be a part of our show.

Mimi Dann is an accomplished artist from Memphis. Her daughter Katie and I lived in the same apartment complex when we were single and painted the town red on way too many occasions. Mimi was a featured artist in the American Artisan shop, but she no longer has a retail outlet in Nashville. Her pottery is absolutely gorgeous with its delicate lines, organic feel and subtle, rich colors.

Carol Fails, the force behind All Strung Out Designs, is one of the favorite jewelers of the duo, Tina+Rebecca, the “Closet Girls.”  We see why.  All Strung Out jewelry is inventive and wearable.  I personally own one of their horned cuffs–it goes with everything in my wardrobe.  Carol’s cuffs are wonderful for the holidays as many cuffs have vintage broaches incorporated in the design. The combination is dazzling and they are so affordable.

Betsy Hindman, the owner of Plum Vintage Jewelry brings to the show an incredible collection of necklaces, bracelets and cuffs.  Betsy has the best eye in town when it comes to finding those unusual, one-of-a-kind pieces.  Vintage jewelry continues to rock the fashion world. When you’re in doubt as to how to make a fashion statement, add a vintage piece of jewelry to your wardrobe.  Promise, you will command the room.

Helen Curnutte, the diva inspired by copper, is a neighbor and incredible jewelry maker.  Her earrings, necklaces and bracelets are divine.  Helen was part of the Whitland Avenue Home Tour and her copper creations gracing the walls of her home blew me away.  I love the way Helen allows the patina of the copper to do its work, giving each piece an inspiring richness.

Kem Alexander, frequently called the Goddess of Uncommon Concrete, is one of my favorite artists from Chattanooga.  Kem is so busy that she no longer does shows, so we are so lucky to have her works in our event. My friend Leslie and I once bet each other to see who had the most concrete shoes of Kem’s — of course, she won.  But I have plenty; you’ll find them tucked in a bookshelf or on a bedroom table.  Her designs are edgy and hip — concrete tap shoes with nails, grommets and screws — what’s not to love?

Katie Kalsi, another rock star from my hometown of Memphis, is bringing her fabulous leather bags.  We featured her trunk show recently and the sales at the show went through the roof.  Katie designs all her bags and many have interchangeable straps, creating a true statement piece.  One of the best things about shopping for others during the holidays is finding the perfect gift for you.  One of Katie’s bags may be under the tree from a secret Santa.

Kay Grott has been crocheting since she was fourteen years.  She can be labeled a couture crochet designer and when we saw her designs, it was obvious Kay understands how to structure, drape and fit the garments she designs.  Her pieces are unique and made with yarns from all over the world. Her collection includes sweaters, baby clothes, purses and more.  Believe it or not, Kay is from Fairview, TN and we love that we get to feature another local gal!  And, with Kay being local, we want to point out that she offers Mother and Daughter Crochet Lessons as a gift item as well.
