When I first read the news last Thursday that Southern Accents was discontinuing its publication, my first thought was, “What about the Southern Accents Showhouse?” I look forward to that issue every year. In fact, my favorite house of all time, which happens to be near where I grew up, was the Southern Accents Showhouse of 2005, “Old Dominion”. As a tribute to Southern Accents, and perhaps to give you some decorating inspiration as well, feast your eyes upon my dream house.
Be sure to pick up the Sept/Oct issue as this is Southern Accents last. I hope this years 2009 Showcase house will be featured; it is in Fort Worth, TX. If you would like to see photos from other Southern Accents showhomes, check out Rachel Halvorson’s post today at www.nestegg.typepad.com. Since Southern Accents will remain online, perhaps it can print again in the future. So long my favorite….I’ll miss you.

If I ever build custom, this is what my house will look like. Well, perhaps this outline with a modern spin.

A close up of the stone work

Can I move right in? No need to change a thing!

Isn't this the dining room you want to linger in?

Perfection

OK- so I'd have to redecorate the Master Bedroom. I'm up for the challenge, and I'll keep the color scheme!

I am soooooooo sad to hear about Southern Accents! I hate this economy and the yukky greed that got us here!
But I love "your" house! Pretty much looks like pure perfection to me too! :)
Just take down the curtains around the bed, Who's from Fort Worth? All media is having a hard time. I wanted to buy a book today and could not think of a locally owned bookstore that sells newly released books, lots of great used book sellers, but are there any new booksellers with local owners? It is so important that we buy from locally owned merchants. I know I am biased, but we all have a choice and a part in keeping what is wonderful about Nashville alive.
I agree! By the way, I think a great place to buy coffee table books is The Beveled Edge. However, I am unaware of a bookstore owned locally left here:-(
i always thought Davis Kidd was locally owned . . no?
It's actually owned by a Kentucky Co, called the Joseph- Beth Group, but I do think it has done a good job maintaining what Davis Kidd was (although my opinion there is not shared by all!). It's my favorite bookstore in town, but no it is not locally owned anymore. But, it also did not go out of business, but sold when the owners of Davis Kidd wanted to retire, or at least that is my understanding. http://www.daviskidd.com/Default.aspx?tabindex=1&tab...
Thanks for reading!
