Eclectic Nashville seems at first glance to be simply a description of our city. But, it’s actually the name of the teeny home store, with a big heart, in East Nashville owned by Cass and Martin Hickman. You will find one-of-a-kind treasures, locally made items, and prices that will beckon you back no matter where you live.
I’ve been a fan of Eclectic Nashville for a while now. It’s easy to be. Once you are a Facebook fan, you’ll see all these great items and before you know it, you will be scheduling some time just to swing by this store. It’s in a great location, as you can shop and then eat at Kahn’s Desserts (they sell more than desserts) and check out DCXV’s retail store as they are all located in the same strip of shops on Porter Rd.
Cass and Martin fill their store with locally made products including artwork, candles, jewelry, napkins, stationery, pottery, furniture and more. Many of these locally based artisans will be familiar to those who attend the Porter Flea Market. They also carry a couple of lines from Mississippi, which is where the couple is originally from.
Their furniture is a collection of vintage and custom-made, many pieces of which have been painted in fun colors.
I’m a big fan of their lighting. Martin makes most of these pieces himself and the prices are crazy good.
What is extra fun about Eclectic Nashville is that if you have a mental image of a piece of furniture or lighting that you want, go in and talk to them. They will find the right local artisan to create your piece. They work with a huge variety of price ranges from “unbelievably reasonable” to “wow, I can see this is a special piece.”
Eclectic Nashville not only is a fun cool shop, they also are a place that gives back by supporting local. And, they take great pride in their artists and make sure to point out those that are supporting mission work around the globe. Dropping money here just feels good and it’s hard to say very often!
Next time you are looking for a gift or in need of a something for your home, check out this store. You’ll be so happy you did!
