I just returned from my cousin’s wedding at a beach side town in Florida. Tons of my relatives live there and I had decided to wear an easy black dress, perfect length, wrinkle free fabric, cute bamboo self belt. Problem: my very white TN legs accentuated by the black dress! I had no time to get a spray tan in Nashville before I left town. So, Friday night I was still disgusted by my very white legs and unable to wait a few days for self tanners to take action….or did I have to wait a few days?
I had read about the wonders of the Lancome Flash Bronzer Leg Gel at $30. Well, that was cheaper than a spray tan, and less humiliating as well. I hate standing in the paper undies while the lady sprays me down. I just hear her thoughts in my head “Hmmmm, she needs to do something about those veins. Man, she does have some cellulite. She really needs to tone up.”
So, I made a quick trip to the local Forida mall and asked for this miracle product. They were sold out (a good sign of how good it is) but they did have one bottle left of the Lancome Flash Bronzer Airbrush Self Tanning Spray. I bought it and left feeling as if I had just scored a trophy, The Last One, but still uneasy as to what I was about to look like. I really did not want to be orange.
No turning back, I sprayed myself down in my hotel room. The directions promise a color change to start in about an hour. I sprayed my legs, arms and chest. The can says you can get dressed immediately after it drys, which took about five minutes. I was convinced I would have brown streaks on the white top I put on. No streaks were on my clothes at the end of the evening, and I was a mild sun-kissed tan. By morning I was darker, but still sprayed some more on. By the 3:30 Saturday afternoon wedding, I was confident in my LBD (little black dress). And, this product has very little odor unlike the majority of self-tanners out there. The color was completely even, not a single streak!
I arrived back home Sunday night and my husband saw me and said, “Wow, you look great! You got some color down in FL, huh?”
If you are looking for a quick fix, I highly recommend this product. I’m sure the gel is great although I used the aerosol. The only thing I didn’t like was that you know the spray is falling all over the floor and that is potentially messy. (I mean, I could care less as it was hotel carpet) But I did care that there was wasted product and I like to be able to use everything I pay for! So, I think I’ll try to get the gel next time but, who knows? I might just stay with this. The color really was perfect for me. And, the editor of Lucky Magazine regularly plugs this product as her personal favorite….. I hope it works as well for you! Available at local department stores.
We’d love comments on your favorite self-tanners. ’Tis the season….
