Have you been to Chuy’s? If you go, ask for the Jalapeño Ranch Dressing to go with the chips and salsa — it’s free, but you need to request it. I need to remember to stop ordering a meal as I gorge myself on this one thing, chips and ranch dressing, and it’s really the main reason I go back time and time again! In fact, I go so much that I needed to know how to just stop by Kroger, grab a few ingredients, and make this myself.

After a few failed attempts, I realized two things: I needed to switch from fresh jalapeños to canned (who knew?!), and instead of trying to make this dressing from scratch, I needed to start with a bottle of ranch. This made for the ideal taste and shortened the whole process to about two minutes. Here it is, a recipe sure to be loved,  as it really is quite tasty!

Jalapeño Ranch Dressing

Dip in some chips, or use for wings, veggies, or a salad. You just can’t go wrong.
This is all your need to make this Jalapeno Ranch Dressing. But, double the jalapenos as they really don't provide any heat, but do add flavor.
This is all your need to make this yummy dressing, easily picked up at your local Kroger. But, double the jalapeños as they really don’t provide too much heat, but do add flavor. But, if you really only like things extra mild, stick with one can!

Ingredients

  • One bottle Ranch Dressing
  • 1/2 a bundle fresh cilantro washed, and cut into smaller 2-3 inch pieces
  • Juice of one lime plus 1/4 of a lime with rind.
  • 2 4 oz cans of jalapeños if you like things very mild, stick with one can
  • If you want to get fancy: add .5 t of cumin and garlic powder
  • Fresh jalapeño if desired. See note.
  • If you making this for a dip you may want it thicker. If so, add 2 handfuls of fresh spinach. Plus, it makes it a lovely green.

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender (I have a Vitamix and it does make things like this mighty easy.).
  • Pulse until well blended.
  • Pour back into the glass ranch dressing jar. And, darn it, there will be more than will fit. Looks like you can start eating this immediately!

Notes

If you want spicy, add 1/2 a fresh jalapeño and blend. Taste. Want more heat? Continue adding more of that jalapeño until desired spiciness has been achieved. Unlike soups and other dishes, my experience has shown that this dressing will not get hotter as it sits, so a taste test as it's blended is a true representation of the dressing, even if served a couple days later. (We left ours for a week and saw no added spiciness)
