We are thrilled to introduce you to our first “Faces of Nashville” today. Look for a new “face” each Monday.

Inspired by the way things used to be, Melodie Adams and her husband Matty started Tin Can Treats — a company which brings their beloved “Doris,” a 1965 Shasta Airflyte, to your special event. Chock full of childhood treats, Doris brings a smile to young and old alike. Be it a wedding, birthday party or neighborhood gathering, Tin Can Treats will make your party delightful.

When asked what makes her happy, Melodie grinned, “vintage clothing, red lipstick and hot rollers.”  Armed with her Southern charm and love for all things nostalgic, Melodie muses that life was better when it was simpler.

StyleBlueprint interviews Melodie:

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Mobile, Alabama and Little Rock, Arkansas.

When and why did you move to Nashville?

I moved to Nashville in 2000 after I was recruited by a record company to be their events assistant.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have been given?

Take the time to find out who you are.

Most valuable thing you’ve learned from Tin Can Treats?

Small businesses are hard work and take up way more time than I ever expected. Thankfully, I get to work with my husband which is one of the perks!

Do you dress in vintage clothes every day?

I wouldn’t say I dress head to toe vintage every day, but unless I am working out, I am wearing vintage.

What books can be found on your bedside table?

This was a hard one because I recently sold my nightstands, so these are actually the books I found on my floor. What French Women Know, My Life In France, The Tipping Point, The Bible, and The Fashion File.

Favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?

When I am not working with Tin Can Treats, I am pursuing my love of acting and singing. My favorite thing to do on a Saturday night is to perform on one of the many stages in Nashville.

Thing you are most looking forward to in May?

I will spend most of May rehearsing for a Cabaret called “Five, an encore performance” that will be taking place at The Belcourt in June.

What is your “must-have” purchase for summer 2011?

I have been wanting the neon pink “scout” bag by Kate Spade ever since I laid eyes on it, but recently found a satchel company in London that sells one just like it for half the price!

What is your favorite hangout spot in Nashville?

It’s not really in Nashville, but during the summer months, you can catch my husband and me at the Watertown Drive-In movie almost every weekend!

Favorite vacation spot?

Seaside, FL, never disappoints us, but locally, we love the Inn at Evins Mill for a quick getaway! They have the best salmon I have ever tasted!

Do you have a playlist for a dinner party that you can share with our readers?

In our home we only listen to vinyl records. My husband has amazing taste in music, so I put him in charge of picking out what records to play at dinner parties.

Name three things you can’t live without (excluding friends, family and God):

Laughter, good coffee, and vintage shapewear!
