Remember when getting home and changing meant putting on your favorite jeans? That’s still appealing, but not as much as getting home and taking off your jeans to put on your yoga pants. Talk about a versatile wardrobe piece. Some other workout gear is now “yoga inspired.” This means running pants now can have that “yoga-look” with the performance you need to hit the pavement. Let’s be honest, while “weekend wear” in a magazine is cute and casually chic, for most of us it has evolved to cute and comfy workout wear that you can breeze around in. Weekend trip to the mountains or beach: you better have some yoga pants to throw in.
Instead of loading up at Target, find some that you love and spend a little on them. You’re going to wear them about 500 times before you are ready to pass them on, so get the ones that feel the best and make you look the best in them!
3 Favorite Brands
(Iif you have others, please let us know in the comments!):
Lucy:
Lucy Power Pant. Reg inseam is 31, tall is 34. This is the pant that is great for around town wear. It makes your butt look amazing as the higher rise in the back and the special yoking and seaming is specially designed to make you look your best. For class, I like the Lucy Harmony Pant with a 31″ inseam for Reg and 35″ for Tall. The Harmony Pant is also on sale right now. It is made from “coolcotton” that wicks your sweat away …so it even works well in Hot Yoga. I mean, you’ll still look like you jumped into a pool of sweat when you leave Hot Yoga, but if you insist on wearing pants, these are ones to try! Check back at Lucy next week as they unroll their new pant: The Vinyasa Pant…they think it’s going to be a big hit with everyone. The current sale online pretty much rocks. www.lucy.com

Lucy Power Pant $78

Lucy Harmony Pant on sale for $39.99. Comes in 3 colors, including black.
lululemon:
By far the most popular yoga pant in my circle of friends. lululemon does not intend to create gear simply for the yoga classroom. In fact, their tag line is lululemon athletica: yoga inspired apparel. This is where you get that awesome running pant dripping with yoga cool. My purebarre classes are filled with this brand of pants. As a tall gal, I love the fact that their inseams for tall are a solid 35 inches. The most popular pant is the Grove Pant. www.lululemon.com

lululemon Run: Ultra Pant. $98 Available in 3 color combinations

lululemon Groove Pant $98. Available in numerous color combinations
prAna:
This company, more than any other, exudes that certain yoga sentiment through their entire collection. They promote sustainability and nature. They also walk the walk. “As a member the Organic Trade Association and the Organic Exchange, prAna is continually increasing the use of organic cotton, as well as sourcing other natural fibers and innovative recycled/upcycled materials.” (from their website) Pants to get from here include the Cabo Pant (33″ inseam) and Divine Pant (33″ inseam) No tall or petite sizes. www.prana.com

prAna Cabo Pant $70

prAna Divine Pant $70
It is not uncommon to see yoga pants paired with cashmere sweaters and Uggs in the winter, tank tops and flip flops in the summer. So stock up!
And…..Namaste

Black stretch pants by Susana Monaco …… what about these? heard of 'em but never tried them?? anyone?
In our interview with Elizabeth James she names the Susana Monaco pants as one of her ” must haves”!!!
I sell a great line called Neon Buddha. They make substantial-weight cotton comfy separates, that hold up well and don't get saggy knees as quickly as some of the cheaper yoga pants. We should get our fall shipment in the next couple of weeks, which includes full-length and cropped yoga pants, as well as garment-dyed coordinating jackets and tops to mix and match.

Laurel- This line sound great! if you ever wanted to consider a trunk show for yoga clothes in Nashville, let me know and I'm sure we could put something together! -liza
I make jewelry also, and I have done several shows at friends' houses in Nashville (I have also sold some through Gin-O in Franklin & The Cotton Mill in GreenHills). A couple of friends (including the one who told me about this site) have asked about setting something up in the fall, so I would love to plan a trip to Nashville. I always have a great time when I come up there! Thanks for your interest! –Laurel
Let us know when you’ll be up and we’d be happy to post about your jewelry show (I just checked out your site) as long as we have room during that period. But, I really like your line….esp the metal pieces! -Liza
Unfortunately I am not as tech-savvy as you..my site is not up-to-date–I have much better metal now. I'll send you new pics with info on any jewelry shows, and you can let me know if you are looking to put together something for the yoga clothes. I sell a wide range of sportswear through cocktail separates, and make the jewelry to coordinate for my store. -Laurel
