Last Sunday I received an invitation to stop by and meet “Manny”, son of the Couture Cowboy, Manuel. For those of you that may be new to Nashville, or are a little fuzzy about just who Manuel is, I have attached one of his design, feel free to marvel. His custom jackets, skirts and coats are designed for the elite country music entertainers and dazzle all of us. Most of his creations are hand embroidered and studded with crystals & assorted jewels. They are TRUE WORKS OF ART. I have long been a die hard fan.

So what’s his son up to? As I entered the underground studio of Manny (located under his Dad’s showroom on Broadway), I saw racks and racks of sample clothing. He explained that his first line deemed simply Classics, was picked up by Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, and boutiques all over the country.

The subtlety of his designs is what got my attention. His women’s jeans had accents (not too many) of Swarovski crystals, the skull and cross bone symbol to represent his Mexican heritage and INCREDIBLE stitching. I was immediately drawn to a black vest with tiny ebony crystals on the front and more cascading down the back. Not too much glitz, just enough.
Investors convinced Manny to move into high end lines using imported Italian wools, leathers and velvets which proved to be the wrong direction. Realizing his customers were confused by the new label and not buying into the new image, he recently returned to his more familiar look.
His website WEAR IT OUT MANUEL shows both the old and the new collections. The line will be previewed first in Denver and then at the new Opry store on 3rd & Broadway. Sources tell StyleBlueprint that this store is TOO HIP and not to be missed. Opening in mid April ’09.
