I had the delight of sipping coffee with Molly Bedell last spring while discussing Nashville retail and the exciting possibility of she and her husband opening up a second location of the Aspen based Two Old Hippies store. Two Old Hippies (TOH) is a music and lifestyle store rolled into one. With apparel and accessories for men, women and children, home decor, and 2 brands of guitars (their namesake Bedell brand and Breedlove Guitars, out of Bend, OR), this store appeals to many, but is at the same time unique – a hard combination to be sure. Personally, I appreciate that I can find a $20 bracelet and a $795 necklace in the same store, both of which I would wear enthusiastically. Basically, the store is a perfect, seamless fit for Music City. In a time where the peace sign has been hijacked by every tween sparkly store across the land, TOH brings back the authenticity of the era that gave birth to the symbol. TOH embraces peace, love and music.
Today’s post is cholk-full of pictures as I just couldn’t decide what to show you, so I erred on the side of quantity. Consider this your insider’s guide.

My husband and I walked into the music room and were so glad we did. The sound made us linger for quite a while. The man on the left, standing, is Tom Bedell.

I adore this suede vest by Gossamer Wings, but at $1300, it's out of my league. But, I know for several of you, it's not. There are several higher-end leather and suede items here that will leave you drooling.

Have I whetted your appetite? I hope so as Two Old Hippies just opened – it’s a soft opening – and I’ve already been… TWICE!
Listen, if you live/work downtown or in East Nashville, this is a no brainer shop to check out. If you live in further out, take the time and check out The Gulch (I’m talking to you West Nashville, Brentwood and more – some shopping is worth leaving the neighborhood for!). With TOH open until 9PM each night, you can easily go have dinner at some trendy restaurant and check out Nashville’s newest retail store all at the same time!

My husband, Larry, and my son, Ryan, had the pleasure of working with them and Leah Sohrs on the design of the store. Larry made all of the guitar hangers, custom racks and display cases you see in the store, and more. They are works of art as well and lend themselves perfectly to the vintage & hippie vibe of the store. We were there Friday for their “Friends and Family” event and my shopping addiction went into overdrive – there is no cure for it when you’re in this store except to buy, buy, buy. We had so much fun looking at all the clothes, jewelry, accessories and gift items – and those sparkly guitars! Of course, we did NOT walk away empty handed. T-shirts, gift items, earrings – my craving was satisfied – for the time being. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks for showcasing such an uh-mazing store – Nashville is lucky to have it here!

The store is awesome and totally unique for Nashville! Once again more fun, creative people comin into nashville, we love living here! Both Liza and I had so much fun shopping in Two Old Hippies. My neighbor Doug did much of the interiors.. Since i consider myself an old hippie, I felt completely at home there. Plus I scored some incredible finds. elizabeth

I’ve been to Two Old Hippies in Aspen and loved the atmosphere. Such beautiful and cool, bohemian clothes, jewelry, purses… The concept is creative. Come on! a STAGE in the store in Nashville, that’s just fun. Can’t wait to shop it in December.
Hot Dog! Molly and Tom are great friends from back home in IA and with my head buried in the world of my kids, I had no idea a store was opened here!! Congrats!! Store looks amazing and I can’t wait to come in and check it out!! I’ll bring the family!
