Tweed: Edgehill’s Newest Addition

Posted by on Jun 8, 2010 in Fashion

One of our beloved family traditions is to end the school year with a celebratory lunch.  Whew!  We made it through another year of homework, talent shows, art exhibits and end of year projects.   This year my friend Dana and I chose Taco Mamacita because– let’s face it– we deserved an icy Margarita (yes, we did!) and Taco Mamacita is  close to school.

After lunch, I spied a new store, a really darlin’ store named Tweed. Maggie Tweedie is the owner and she’s about as cute as everything in her store.

Whimsical and wonderful clothing adorn the racks and walls of Tweeds. In keeping with the trend to niche’ marketing, everything in the store caters to a newborn to 24 month old baby.  One of my favorite designers in the store is Right Bank Babies, the creator of these precious ruffled diapers pictured below.  They come in all kinds of colors and patterns, so I snagged one for my niece Margaret for her first birthday.

The girlies and I especially loved the made to order swing;  it’s half tree house, half elf haven. I asked Maggie who made them and she shyly said, “Well, I do.. and my fiance’ when he is in the mood to cut out leaves.”   What a great way to begin the decorating for your nursery: you start with a great swing, select a paint color and add a comforter.  Maggie can customize them and make them more frilly with flowers adorning the leaves.  And if you are worried about it not holding up, don’t be.  The swing can hold over 200 lbs of kiddos.

The diaper bags in Tweed are show stoppers.  What happened to the awful bags we used to carry?  When I bought my first diaper bag, the styles were, let’s just say, “cute”.  The diaper bags at Tweed have such panache, you may consider using them after Junior gets out of diapers.  The designer, Petunia Pickle Bottom, is from California and understands Mommies don’t always want to look like a Mommy.  No longer do you have to feel like you are a walking billboard for the Mother Goose Rhymes, but rather ready to compete with all those Hollywood moms we see in People magazine. Don’t you just love the clutch to carry when you can downsize and not carry bottles, pacifiers and sippy cups?

Tweed is a family affair–literally.  Maggie’s is named after her great-great grandfather.  The family started a footwear company in the late 1800′s.  Maggie gets help from her Mom and sister on the interior staging of the store.  Her young nephew George is willing to test market any new items in the store.

These dresses have me racking my brain for any under 2 yr old girls that I can buy one for!

Even the way the items are arranged is just so hip.

You will feel like you are in a boutique on Rodeo Drive with Nashville prices.

Treat yourself to Tweed and then stroll into the other stores at Edgehill Villages.  Grab yourself a Margarita.  Now that’s a great afternoon of shopping.

We totally agree! Maggie is great. We are expecting our first child in October, and we have already purchased our diaper bag from Maggie. She could not have been more helpful! We're certain we'll visit Tweed (and Taco Mamacitas) often!__-Kristin & Michael

  2. Maggie- Please think about a few bigger sizes. I want to buy too but my fun babe is in a 3T! I will still be in though; she has seen the princess doll above and her birthday is coming up. :)
