Have you found your favorite blue polish yet? Yes, that’s right, you can wear blue.
I remember in the early 90’s when blue polish had it’s first real heyday. I remember because I was watching Days of Our Lives (in the 80’s I only watched General Hospital, which is how I know it was the 90’s!) and Sami, Hope and Kate were all wearing blue polish. I remember specifically thinking that this whole blue polish thing was being embraced by many generations in the soap opera world, but that this was not true in the real world.
It’s twenty years later and this time, multiple generations of women really are embracing blue, and the choices are endless. With so many options, it’s hard to choose, which means we often default to the familiar OPI’s My Chihuahua Bites or Cajun Shrimp. (You, too?) To help us all out, we enlisted some professional help to pick the best blues for your next manicure or pedicure. It’s the perfect color for say… the 4th of July?!
Lori Boysen, the manicurist at Woo Cosmetics + Skincare says, “Deborah Lippmann’s I KNOW WHAT BOYS LIKE is my favorite summer blue. It is a fun, playful periwinkle that will match all skin tones.”
Tracy Martin, the manicurist at Changes Salon, says, “If you have ever secretly wanted to wear your daughter’s nail polish, or were just too shy, now is the time to try a fun shade of blue. I think anyone can wear a shade of blue. The most popular color with any age is Russian Navy, and No Room For The Blues is so cute on the toes.”
Tami Hall, owner of Escape Day Spa, agrees that blue is very popular right now. She pointed out how fabulous they look with black strappy flats. Here is her list of the most popular at Escape:
So, are you ready to wear some blues? Next week would be the perfect time to wear blue, in case you want to test it out. But, one thing’s for sure, nail color does not need to be in the same range of colors you wear on your lips. Have some fun… it’s just polish!
