In Her Shoes…

shoeliza In Her Shoes...In Her Shoes…wine tasting, great food, 150 pairs of women’s shoes and 40 handbags all requiring your attention while you are dressed oh-so-fab and hangin’ out at the oh-so-hip Miro District.  Does this sound like the perfect way to decompress come May 13th when you have just spent 10 days in the surrealistic vision that Nashville has become?  If you are thinking, YES, this is what I need to put on my calendar, DO SO and here’s why:  This inaugural In Hers Shoes event is hosted by the YWCA’s Junior Board and will raise funds for the YWCA’s Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter, the largest such shelter in the state of TN. Your $35 ticket includes all the wine and food you would like, from 6PM-9PM, plus the ability to bid on all those shoes and bags just mentioned.

Oh, and just because it is the Junior Board who is hosting the event, don’t think that you, too, have to be under 40 to attend.  This event will attract women from 21- 91.  The combination of bargain shopping and helping a sister in need will truly create a wonderful evening.

shoeliza2 In Her Shoes...You may remember last year when the Burn The Mortgage cocktail parties were held throughout the city to pay off the mortgage of this shelter.  Well, Nashville, you came through and the mortgage has indeed been paid off.  This year’s In Her Shoes event raises money for the actual cost of running the shelter, which needs $1.5 million each year just to stay open.  Having such a large shelter is something of which Nashville should be proud and we need to ensure this shelter can always serve the women and children of our at large community.  I can’t imagine an easier way to support the shelter than a $35 ticket which is less than you would probably spend on dinner and drinks anyway.  Plus, you know the deals on these shoes and bags will be incredible.  Really, you need to go.  I’m so excited to support this event and I’ve held off some shoe purchases in anticipation of what I might find.

So, one important question is “What do I wear?”!  Grab that Summer dress you’ve been dying to show off or get those kick ass jeans out (dark rinse or white) with that gorgeous blouse and of course, great shoes (ok, so maybe you might need to purchase a pair before the event!).  While this is a mainly female event, feel free to bring a date:  He can carry your winning items to your car.

shoeliza3 In Her Shoes...Many of the shoes can be exchanged for your size, but check the bid sheet to be sure as not all can.

Dillards is the headliner sponsor and donated 100 pairs of shoes.  And let’s face it, Dillards has a great selection of shoes that covers a wide price range.  And, while I hate to admit it, the Jessica Simpson collection there is growing on me.  She has some great shoes this season. 45 local stores are participating, including StyleBlueprint favorites Monkees, Zeldas, Patische, Cute and Comfy Shoes, Emmaline, Jamie, and Haven amongst others.

The chair of the event is Patricia King and her excitement over the event couldn’t be more infectious.  I hope you all can come as we all need a gathering place, with a drink in hand to do what Nashville does best: support our local charities.

lastshoe In Her Shoes...Collins Weaver Hooper, obviously a huge supporter of the Weaver Domestic Violence shelter, gives a shout out to StyleBlueprint readers, “Not only can you get a great pair of shoes, but you can also support the Shelter and the programs it provides for the women and children in our community.  I look forward to seeing everyone there!”
