After trying on the $58 Savannah jelly flip flops from Elaine Turner, we were more than smitten. These are sooooo comfortable! And, since they are waterproof, they are just as perfect for the pool as they are for running errands. The nice folks at Elaine Turner, after we told them how much we were really diggin’ them, sent all of our city editors a pair since we were already planning a fun Memorial Day week pedicure post. They make the ideal complement to these pretty toes, huh? Here are some nail colors we are embracing this summer!
From Katherine Snell, SB Atlanta Editor:
At nine months pregnant it is more likely I will be wearing these flip flops to the hospital then to the pool deck this summer. But, I must say the cushy sandals have been a blessing for these weary pregnant feet. And not only are the comfortable, but they are definitely cute enough to wear while running around town. To keep my toes pretty, I went with Snap Happy from Essie. Maybe the bright red while help distract me whenever I do go into labor!
From Christian Owen, SB Memphis Editor:
Any of the season’s popular blue nail colors combine well with these bright orange shoes, modeled here (below) by my daughter, Catherine. We wear the same shoe size, so you know what that means … If I can’t find my Elaine Turner flip-flops this summer, they are probably in Catherine’s beach bag!
As is always the case when Catherine and I get a pedicure together at Diva Nails, I tend to go a bit more monotone and neutral. With these new flip flops in mind, I chose a monotone yet bold, red-orange hue called Bright Lights, Big Color by OPI. For a clean, fresh look, a cool-toned neutral, such as ballet pink, would also complement any neon shoe.
From Heidi, SB Louisville Editor:
These flip flops are not only cute in my favorite green color, but most of all they are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever owned. They have gel support in the heel and the arch, making the shoe not so flat and better for your feet. I picked On Collins Ave by OPI for my nail color because I loved the way the coral/orange popped against the green. And, it goes with everything, so I’m set for the next month.
From Catherine Romero, SB Birmingham Editor:
With the arrival of my hot pink Elaine Turner flip flops came summer, and that meant I could no longer put off the long overdue pedicure! While I usually go with a bright red or coral color, lately I’ve been really into all shades of blue and am currently loving I Saw … U Saw … We Saw … Warsaw from OPI’s new Euro Centrale Collection for Spring/Summer 2013. It’s a deep, glossy navy blue that seems to complement all my wardrobe whites and brights of the summer season.
From me, Liza, in Nashville:
And, lastly, I chose Butter London’s Slapper from their Spring 2012 collection, which is a color I own and bring with me to the nail salon. I picked it to go with the my hot pink Savannah jellies. I had a hard time choosing between the gold flip flops and the brighter colors–the metallic colors are far more “squishy” which appeals to many, but I preferred the comfy + firmness + still-cushy that the non-metallics have. Add white jeans and this color combo is perfecto!
