Today’s post is written by Lindsey from StyleBlueprint Memphis with some additions by Liza, specifically for Nashville, as we are loving our Nashville peeps in neon and what we are seeing at the boutiques!
Neon accessories and clothing are majorly catching my eye this season, because how could they not, right? Faced with the challenge of embracing the trend without reliving those blinding 80′s “fashion moments,” I’ve scoured the internet for some simply irresistible examples of how we might incorporate this uber-colorful palate into our own summer wardrobes. Neon today is a softer and more sophisticated version on the dated 80′s look.

In Nashville, just this past weekend, two friends were sportin’ neon in such fabulous ways that we had to show it off. Really, neon is not just for teenagers and these photos prove it!
Tania Ford (with her sweet daughter Emmaline) rocks a neon sweater. Notice that with her hair in a bun, pearls and a classic pencil skirt with neutral shoes how this outfit is suddenly classic and fresh all at once. Sweater is from J Crew.
Marci Houff was stunning at Steeplechase in her neon orange! In person, the orange was true neon, but the overlay made it instantly "grown up" and gorgeous.
There are some fabulous bold accessories out there from funky jewelry and shades, to handbags and shoes that will blend well with any neutral palate while making a real statement this summer.
Found at JAMIE in Nashville. Perfect pop of neon. $48.
This fun top from Perfect Pair in Nashville shows how just a pop of neon in green and purple can make the outfit. Love the turquoise necklace (kinda like nature's own neon, huh?).
Jeans are showing up in all colors this season, including neon. These are found at The Cotton Mill. While there, I saw the cutest lady, about 65, wearing a pair of neon green jeans paired with a navy tunic and nude shoes. Really, she was fabulous.
At Hemline at the Hill Center. How great are these shorts? Add a white t-shirt and platforms or flat-as-pancake sandals and you are done!
This top (which is under $70) is the perfect thing to pair with your white jeans this summer. At Hemline. Add some turquoise earrings for a great contrast.

When it comes to clothing, don’t be afraid to play up the color factor, but limit your accessories and keep it simple (this means no side ponytails, crimping, or leg warmers), letting the garment really shine!

Neon stripes accent this summery shift by Tibi. Neutral shoes (love the snakeskin) and minimal jewelry work well.
I am loving the use of color blocking with neon, too.

Typically, a simple but powerful pop here and there – but not everywhere - is the ticket. But we’ve even seen some stars in head to toe day glo who seem to make it work!

Have I convinced you to consider neon for the first time, or perhaps again?! Hope so!
