I love Michelle. I have to admit I was wishy washy a year ago. But, she has won me over. It helps that I am 5’11″ and she is actually TALLER than I am. YEA! Don’t get me wrong- petite girls rock, but celebrity status has you tall at 5’6″ and when you pass 5″8″ all people do is talk about your height. It’s annoying- but now the anointed fashionista is Michelle Obama and she just beams. She has the ability to make us all feel that she would be our friend if we knew her. She would be part of OUR crowd. And if she were, she now possesses a dress that I could borrow- I get dibs as I’m tall enough to wear it!
The first dance reeked wedding dance except it was so NOT a private moment. It was awkward and sweet and she just endeared herself to me even more. OK, back to the dress. Here it is:

It follows the one shoulder trend that remains strong this season. In white, it is a classic and yet still mimics the colors of choice being chosen today for high fashion red carpet drama: taupe, beige, white, black click here. It has ruching through the bodice. I love ruching-it hides a multitude of sins. And I am gushing over the fluffy appliques? Are they rosettes?
And the beading…oh my, she really is a gushing bride and that metaphor is not lost: the optimism they have about our future as Americans with this new beginning.
The Jason Wu creation. Don’t know his name? You will. (I want some Jason Wu dresses at the Swan Ball this year!)
His website is www.jasonwustudio.com .

Michelle already made headlines when she wore one of his creations for her Barbara Walters interview. Jason Wu himself did not know that his mysterious customer was in fact Michelle Obama until he was wathcing TV. Wu is only 26 and he is known for the way he captures the hourglass femine shape. His gowns cost between 3-6K.
It’s back to work time tomorrow, but for today, can’t we all just gaze upon these images and be joyful? We can debate for the next four years but not tonight.
