There’s something about this year in particular that makes me want get all decked out in the red, white and blue on the 4th of July. Now, it’s easy to become a little too much like the Christmas sweater gal, a little too holiday if you know what/who I mean! But, if there were ever a year to indulge in a little over-the-top USA fashion, given that the summer Olympics are only a month away, this would be it! Enjoy your stars and stripes, and go a little overboard. It’s okay.
All that said, it’s really hot. I mean 109 today. Are you kidding me? So, when I’m thinking 4th fashion, I’m thinking dress. It’s just the coolest option you have. So, while I had planned lots of cute outfits with shorts, red jeans and separates for today’s post, I’ve changed my mind. Here are some easy dresses to keep you cool and fabulous on the 4th. If you are in the mountains, I’ve included some 3/4 sleeved dresses just for you, you lucky thing! And, since so many people are traveling, today’s post features dresses available online.
First thing’s first: it’s time to once again point out that we at StyleBlueprint think J. McLaughlin has some of the best dresses anywhere. (The ones featured today are available in their Atlanta, Nashville and Louisville stores. But, many more are available online.)

Made from that fabulous swimsuit material they use, which means you can sweat in this and stay looking great! J. McLaughlin, $195.

Like the previous dress, this one is made from that fabulous French swimsuit material that J. McLaughlin devotees are all so familiar with. J. McLaughlin, $195.
Anthropologie:

Love how they styled it with a blue striped chevron belt. If it’s blazing hot where you are, unless you are indoors, lose the belt and add some flip flops with a blue pedicure. Anthropologie, $188.

Nothing is more “All American” than a denim dress. Simply add a red pedicure and you are set. Anthropologie, $128.

This is a nice variation from the standard bright red, white and blue. And, being covered with a light and breezy fabric like this will actually keep you cooler. Think India…. Anthropologie, $168.
Lilly Pulitzer:

Hot Pink, White and Navy is a perfectly acceptable diversion from the good ol’ Red, White and Blue. This is fresh and fun. Lilly Pulitzer, $158.

This dress can be your poolside coverup, added to white jeans as a tunic (or go with skinny red jeans for true patriotic appeal) or worn simply as a dress. Beach or mountains, this dress can work for you! Lilly Pulitzer, $98.
Piperlime:

While some simply need to avoid horizontal stripes, there are a few who can wear them (think very thin or very tall). That said, these tiny stripes are more forgiving than bigger ones. Michael Stars, $98.

I simply love these colors. The reviews all state that petite size 0′s are striking out, as it runs big and is blousy. So, if you have a bigger chest and are not a petite, this may be perfect for you. Pim + Larkin, (love the price): $79
Others:

For those in the mountains who may be enjoying cooler temps, and happen to have legs for days, this dress is for you. Tory Burch, $295.
And, we know there is that someone who wants to wear red, white and blue and be absolutely on theme, flashing earrings and all. To you, we say: no fireworks on your top, consider leaving the stars in the sky and perhaps buy this dress by Vineyard Vines. It’s completely on theme and not an ounce tacky.
